Perched atop a cliff overlooking the stunning Tiwi beach and set in 20 acres of indigenous bush blended with vibrantly designed gardens is the unique and stylish Swahili House.

We are located 14km South of Mombasa and 12kms north of Diani Beach, quietly tucked away from the commercial tourist scene and the hustle and bustle of city life.

Swahili House is tastefully designed in the traditional Swahili style with intricate wood work and colorful materials.

The area is surrounded by many old indigenous trees which support the local wildlife; bush babies, vervit monkeys, dik dik, mongoose, serval cats, native birds to name a few.

We have various accommodation options available:

Our Main House, which occupies prime position and is ocean front facing, has three en suite double rooms and one single.

The House also has its own private swimming pool which overlooks the pristine Tiwi beaches.

Atop the Main House is the Penthouse (Naked Africa) which has one very spacious and exquisitely furnished double en suite room with stunning views of the Indian Ocean.

The Lofty Cottage located a few meters away has one double loft style room and two day beds downstairs.

Adjacent is the Swahili Cottage which has two en suite double rooms.

Both Cottages have fully equipped kitchens, spacious living area and al fresco dining option; they are also both ocean front facing and only a few meters from the beach.

Tucked away in its own little oasis is the Swahili Villa with three very spacious en suite double rooms.

The Villa also has a luxurious swimming pool overlooking the dramatic Tiwi coastline as well as a plunge pool and bar/dining area set on the pool deck.

All our accommodation is equipped with well designed and well stocked kitchens; and our talented chef is on site to create tantalizing dishes for all our guests.

The accommodation options provided can be rented out as a unit or as a whole.

• Areas of Interest

Mombasa is situated 17 Kilometers north of Tiwi Beach. Almost anything can be bought or made in this thriving historically important old Swahili Town and is well worth a visit.

Diani a medium sized tourist destination is only 12 Kilometers away to the South. Here you will find banks, restaurants, supermarkets, boutiques, bars, discos, casinos, car rental, hospitals, water sports centers and an 18-hole championship golf course.



• Tiwi Rock Pools

In the immediate vicinity of Tiwi are many scenic walks, and a few hundred meters along the reef to the north at low tide are the magnificent Tiwi rock pools.

It is advised to take a guide and if you ask the manager or one of the members of staff one will be provided



• Tiwi River

Enjoy a beautiful walk along the beach to the Tiwi River; here you will find breathtaking sunsets silhouetting the ancient Baobab trees near the old Congo Mosque, a religious building dating back centuries. The river is home to many birds including the rare nightjar heron.

There are air links from the local Ukunda airstrip to all major Parks in Kenya, including the world famous Maasai Mara.

The nearest game park to Swahili House is the Shimba Hills Reserve, just 20minutes away by car (4x4 is recommended).

Shimba Hills Reserve is famed for its elephants, cape buffalo and rare sable antelope.

Further afield but still only a few hours by car is the largest game reserve in the world, Tsavo National Park. Here you will find all the Big Game Africa has to offer and some of the most beautiful views of the vast African Savannah.

In addition the marine parks of Shimoni and Kisite are less than half an hour by car and well worth a visit for all ocean enthusiasts.
